POSITION TITLE: MEDICATION TECHNICIAN
Must have a Medication Certificate in the state of Nevada
Position Summary:
The Medication Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure delivery of medications and health related items to the residents within a Community. The Medication Aide assists in developing, coordinating and performing the tasks on the service plan according to the resident’s preferences and abilities. The Medication Aide serves as a supervisor and monitor to all the Resident Assistants on the same shift.
Position Responsibilities:
1) Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of Assisted Living. Has awareness and practices in accordance with the regulations of the state.
2) Receives report from the previous shift and Med Aide.
3) Reads the Communication Log and Shower Schedule for information and changes at the beginning of each day. Documents in the Communication Log and Progress notes, as appropriate throughout the day.
4) Assists residents with activities of daily living, environmental orientation, vital signs, first aid wound care, and communication with outside health care professionals.
5) Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.
6) Documents care given adhering to facility policies and procedures.
7) Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors including housekeeping duties as assigned. Assures door is always alarmed, if needed.
8) Reports deficiencies observed in resident apartments clothing/linen and facility to administrator. Completes Incident Report form as needed for any unusual occurrence.
9) Observes and communicates any changes in resident physical or mental status as directed.
10) Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons and other emergency procedures, follows facility policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans.
11) Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment. Maintains a neat and orderly Medication Room.
12) Wears name tag at all times.
13) Assists residents moving in or out as directed.
14) Maintains current resident record for each resident including but not limited to, obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting.
15) Orders, stores and assists with medications according to facility policy and procedure and current physician orders.
16) Maintains, transcribes, and documents in the Medication Assistance Record according to Policy and Procedure.
17) Maintains service plans. May participate in Service Plan reviews.
18) Supervises and monitors floor staff.
19) Performs all other duties assigned by any member of management.

6) Keeps resident information confidential; respects resident’s rights; respects privacy and right to self-determination of residents.
7) Performs unpleasant tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and displays willingness to assist co-workers.
8) Abides by established policies and procedures of facility. Looks for ways to improve facility functioning.
9) Keeps work areas neat and clean; helps maintain appearance of facility.
10) Is able to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.
11) Has ability to spend long periods of feet and to ambulate quickly.
12) Is free of non-treated communicable disease.
13) Is accurate, dependable, neat, and thorough in assigned tasks.
14) Ability and willingness to learn quickly.
15) Ability to utilize and apply basic management skills.
