Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)/Environmental Health Specialist in Training (EHSIT)

Position Description: Under the general supervision of the Environmental Health Director, this individual will plan, organize, and conduct inspections under the food safety program (restaurants, grocery stores, vending operations, mobiles, etc.), and recreational and public facilities (campgrounds, schools, body art and tattoo, etc.) contact operators to schedule inspections, performs inspections to ensure compliance with all environmental health regulations and documents findings in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, follows up on violations to ensure compliance, prepares reports, maintain accurate files, assist in preparation of legal or administrative documents, collect field samples etc. This individual may also work in the rabies program and perform mobile home park inspections.
Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics: Must have a current certificate of registration as a REHS in the State of Ohio, or EHSIT eligible having obtained a bachelor’s degree including 45 quarter units or 30 semester units of approvable science courses. Must have a valid State of Ohio driver's license and remain insurable in accordance with the agency’s insurance policy. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Self-starter with ability to organize, schedule and complete assigned work, team player willing to assist co-workers in completion of assignments, ability to work well with the public.
Salary Range for EHSIT: $16 - $24 per hour. Range depends upon experience and education
Salary Range for REHS: $21 – $31 per hour. Range depends upon experience and education

Education:
- Bachelor Degree Required
