JOB TITLE: Kitchen Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for preparing and serving lunch and dinner meals to residents by following the nutritional guidelines under the Ohio Department Education’s Child and Adult Care Food Program and adhere to the Ohio Uniform Food Safety Code. This position is responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of commercial food equipment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare Monthly Menus and Grocery Lists
- Prepare and serve lunch and dinner meals to safe housing residents
- Preparing meals for weekend
- Tracking Ohio Department of Education requirements which include but are not limited to meal count records and annual food inventory
- Cleaning and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment
- Maintenance of commercial kitchen in compliance with the OUFSC
- Collecting items weekly from the Dayton Food Bank
- Collecting items weekly from United Dairy Farmers
ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND BEHAVIORS
- Develop working knowledge of State Health Laws pertaining to a food service operation.
- Meet the diverse nutritional needs and preferences of a large and everchanging community. Show special sensitivity to food allergies and health issues. All meals should be flavorful and appealing to look at.
- Establish ways of work and good cooking practices that will reduce waste of food and other resources. Understand and practice proper food storage and rotation, “First in -first out.”
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to be in a sedentary position or standing, bending, stooping, and light lifting work, both indoors and out of doors. Must be able to go up and down stairs and accomplish tasks that require reaching, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. while walking and move quickly under emergency conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally inside the residential housing facility and includes kitchen environment, laundry room, bathing areas, secured hotline area, and other communal living areas.

SUPERVISED BY: Safe Housing Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
- Serve Safe Certification Level 1, but prefer Level 2.
- Experience in food preparation and food service.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and products.
- Ability to work on your feet and strength to lift 50 pounds.
WORK HOURS: split between 2 part time employees
Saturday, Sunday, Monday from 10a-6p
Tuesday, Wednesday (8a-6p), Thursday from 10a-6p
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.24 per hour
