What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant, Department of Surgery position at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)?
Summary A Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Esha Gogna at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine. The successful candidate chosen for this position will participate in projects focusing on the role of cell competition pathways and treatment in cancer using mouse tumor models. Major responsibilities in this position include performing working with mouse models of cancer, drug administration, tissue collection and analysis using tissue sectioning, pathology, and biomarker development, and analysis. Minor responsibilities include mammalian cell culture, and assays such as western blots, qPCR, and other related biochemical techniques. In addition, the candidate must participate in the design and performance of research projects, be able to report and interpret results to the principal investigator, other laboratory staff, and students, as well as assist other staff and troubleshooting experiments and instrument problems. Also, the candidate must be able to maintain detailed records of results from the experiments.
