Position Summary:
The Drop/Survey Technician responsible for working closely with field personnel and customers to collect field data, prep construction sites and operate machinery. They will be expected to operate in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury or property damage and maintaining a clean and hazard free construction worksite. This individual will be trained on machine operation and be expected to complete assigned field tasks on time while communicating effectively with their team and leaders.
Drop/Survey Technician critical job responsibilities:
- Handle moderately complex work activities using Vibratory plow including daily cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Control passing traffic to ensure crew remains in safe working conditions.
- Assist with removing, filling or compacting earth to prep construction site for plow.
- Load and unload materials, machinery or tools in an organized and efficient manner.
- Read instructions and drawings carefully to determine specific work activities needed to complete the task.
- Review All Points Broadband engineered documents for constructability in tandem with start of construction and report/manage potential constructability issues, as related to service drop installation.
- Create and maintain All Points Broadband field documents as related to service drop engineering and installation.
- Responsible for creation of KMZ documents for service drop routes, connection points and routing from servicing Fiber Drop Terminal to Demarcation.
- Attend meetings, events, or training(s) as required.
- Follow safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications of a strong candidate:
- 3 years of experience with operating heavy machinery and working on a construction site.
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
- Valid driver's license/satisfactory driving record.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques.
- After initial training period, must be able to proficiently and safely operate machinery.
- Experienced in equipment cleaning and safe operating procedures.
- Effective communication and verbal skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Must have demonstrated experience working independently and with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Adequate physical condition to withstand outdoor work and wear all required PPE.
- Ability to travel for the majority of the work assignments.
