Job Summary:
Project Manager – Special Projects
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Virginia – Georgia Transformer Corporation, the largest and fastest growing power transformer manufacturer in the US, has as an immediate opening for a program manager working out of one of our US facilities to manage High Growth Markets NPD and Manufacturing Implementation Programs. The position is responsible for managing regional project managers, sourcing specialists, supplier quality engineers and logistics specialists at worldwide VTC facilities. The position will manage new product development programs, procurement of components from multi region suppliers for new product launches, component shipping logistics, supplier quality assurance, startup of manufacturing at VTC plants and suppliers. The Program Manager will coordinate with engineering teams, plant purchasing, plant operations, multi region sourcing, and product development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Responsible for developing program plans for new product development and taking products to launch – factoring in design and development schedules, component procurement, prototype builds, startup of manufacturing at suppliers and VTC regional plants.
· Collaborates with Plant operations, corporate purchasing, engineering teams, Product management and Development team to gather requirements for new product development component procurement and supplier quality.
· Leads identification of suppliers for components from multi regions
· Leads component procurement and shipment to ensure plants can meet On Time to Customer Request targets.
· Manages the coordination of procuring components (switchgear, material handling, conduits, cabling, connectors) from multi regions and develops project plan for start of skid integration at fabricator.
· Develops schedules and manages the startup of transformer power skid manufacturing at designated suppliers and plants.
· Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions to meet on time delivery.
· Monitors and champions continuous supplier on time delivery and delivered material quality.
· Manages the process to resolve manufacturability issues working with suppliers and VTC engineering team.
· Manages the development of DFMEAs with internal team and PFMEAs with manufacturing suppliers and ensures that high RPN items have been mitigated through design or process changes to ensure zero defects.
· Responsible for manufacturing quality working with supplier, existing plant quality function or develops a small team to manage supplier quality and drives resolution of quality issues.
· Responsible for preparation of delivery schedules and coordinating with internal functions to ensure On Time Delivery to Customer Request.
· Responsible for running daily QDP (Quality, Delivery, Production) meetings and updating virtual SQDP dashboards after manufacturing startup.
· Prepares and presents manufacturing update information daily or weekly for executive team.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
· 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing project management, and 3 yrs. in electrical switchgear components, electrical equipment, enclosures etc.
· Lean experience – Master Black Belt preferred
· Certifications in project management preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
