Employment Type: Employee Employment Classification: Regular Time Type: Full time Work Shift: 1st Shift (United States of America) Total Weekly Hours: 40 Location: Voorhees - 100 Bowman Drive Voorhees, NJ Additional Locations: Job Information: A Child Life Specialist conducts direct assessments and provides clinical interventions to patients and their families in accordance with all Child Life Competencies required by the Association of Child Life Professionals and are credentialed by the Child Life Certification Commission. As a member of the healthcare team, Child Life Specialists are clinically trained on the developmental impact of illness and injury. Based on this knowledge, specialists are responsible for providing developmentally appropriate and therapeutic interventions to reduce pain, fear, and anxiety, and increase the individual’s ability to cope with stress and uncertainty related to illness, injury, disability, and loss. REQUIRED: Certified Child Life Specialist (4)10 hour shifts ; 8a-6p OR (5) 8 hour shifts; 8:30a-5p Job Responsibilities Provides child life services to patients and family members, including developmentally appropriate therapeutic play and activities, education, procedural preparation, coping facilitation, and support as it relates to their illness and medical treatment, as well as bereavement support. Child life services are provided to pediatric patients, children of adult patients, and adults with developmental disabilities. Assesses, individualizes, and evaluates plan of care based on patient/family physical, developmental, emotional, and recreational needs. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to integrate goals and plans to promote optimal patient care that is family-centered, developmentally appropriate, and psychosocially sound Participates in the assessment of patients in terms of language development, motor function, understanding of disease and emotional feeling regarding hospitalization. (inpatient specific) Assists the child and parents in adjusting to the hospital environment and maintaining a healthy attitude towards illness (inpatient specific). Participates in and provides in-service training program for staff around developmental issue Prepares reports on the total program activities as directed by Clinical Manager; participates in the development of policies and procedures pertinent to the Child Life Program. Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of infant, child, and adolescent growth and development. Experience working with infants, children, and adolescents. Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner. Work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others. Ability to work independently Required Skills and Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Family Studies or closely related field Certified Child Life Specialist - or working to/eligible to obtain certification within 1 year of employment. Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner Work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others Ability to work independently.
