We’re seeking an Assistant Behavior Consultant I to join our exceptional Early Intensive Behavior Intervention (EI) program, where you’ll make a direct and lasting impact in the lives of young children with autism. You will provide high quality clinical care to an assigned classroom of approximately 8 clients, supported by RBTs, and focusing on individualized treatment. You will have onsite opportunities to integrate parents into their child’s teaching interventions.  You will benefit from ongoing supervision and support from an experience BCBA and consultation with a BCBA-D. You’ll work onsite at Vista’s Early Intervention Center, a thoughtfully designed setting created to support both young learners and clinical staff. The space features four individualized client rooms, an indoor play area, a new outdoor playground, shared meeting and learning areas, and a dedicated lunch/break room—all in a convenient, easy-to-access location.

The Assistant Behavior Consultant I - ABA, under the direction of the BA, addresses goals and areas of client need across the environments accessed by the client. Assistant Behavior Consultants assess and monitor individual progress towards treatment plan goals, assist the Behavior Analyst in developing programs, and monitors the implementation of prescribed programs.   This position provides training for BHT and RBT staff, parents, and relevant community members. The Assistant Behavior Consultant participates in the clinical supervision that is provided by the Behavior Analyst to the Lead & Supervising Registered Behavior Technician(s) and RBTs or Behavior Health Technicians - ABA.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Implement and monitor treatment in support of the ITP
  • Participates in the development of treatment interventions as well as the day-to-day design and implementation of programming
  • Supports the execution of individual treatment plans and ensures treatment environment set up and stimulus materials match client objectives
  • Under the direction of a Behavior Analyst, assists with data collection to support assessments of client needs and areas of growth to inform treatment planning and authorization processes
  • Develops and provides training to Vista employees and stakeholders on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and supporting individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder within the scope of their competence
  • Trains and monitors Behavior Health Technicians and Registered Behavior Technicians on the implementation of treatment plan goals and prescribed programming across treatment environments
  • Communicates with assigned staff and team members to discuss programming, staff fidelity, and training needs
  • Implements and adheres to positive coaching practices
  • Develops and maintains understanding and competency of core aspects of ABA-based treatment models and principles of behavior change
  • Collaborates and communicates regularly with internal and external team members, including families, PH-MCO Care Managers, Primary Care Physicians, Specialists, and Case Managers
  • Maintains and submits all required documentation (billing and clinical) by expected deadlines
  • Assists with the quality monitoring, utilization reviews, and other client, staff, or program monitoring processes
  • Demonstrates flexibility, receptiveness to change, tactfulness, patience, courtesy, and professionalism
  • Serves within the BHT role providing 1:1 support for clients as needed to meet staffing ratios
  • Completes other duties as assigned 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday.  Assignment may require the ability to physically move clients during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment. 

The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions.


EXPECTED SCHEDULE

This is a full-time on-site position. Days and hours of the workweek are program dependent based on service delivery and program operation hours.  Services are provided in the clinic setting with an occasional need to provide service in the home or community setting. When those occasional needs arise, availability may be required outside of typical program operating hours.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and minimum of 12 credits in ABA coursework required
  • Successful completion of Vista's crisis intervention training required
  • Minimum of one full time year (or equivalent in hours) experience working directly with families and children providing ABA services and knowledge delivering ABA programming and methodology required
  • High proficiency of Microsoft Office products and Internet applications required
  • Ability to implement, train, and coach other staff on the implementation of services and proper crisis prevention techniques required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Early Start Denver Model, Precision Teaching, and/or PEAK programming experience preferred
  • Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills, effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Approaches problem solving in positive manner
