Job Description
The Nuclear Equipment Operator is responsible for operating station equipment and systems in accordance with Administrative, Procedural, and Regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Inspect assigned equipment, complete documentation associated with these inspections, and adjust equipment as necessary for proper equipment and system operation.
- Monitor trends in equipment performance and inform control room of any unexpected indications.
- Identify and initiate actions for material condition issues.
- Perform the initial actions required in response to an off-normal condition, and perform follow up actions as directed
- Identify and correct any abnormal conditions, hazards to personnel or equipment, or challenges to continuous service, if possible, and report any findings to the Control Room.
- As a member of the site Fire Brigade, perform firefighting, rescue, first aid and chemical spill response activities.
- Perform surveillances and special test activities.
- Operate equipment to monitor and process equipment drains.
- Satisfactorily participate in a continuing training program structured to maintain and enhance job proficiency Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- High School Diploma, or GED equivalent required.
- Good computer skills
- Good written and verbal skills
- Strong teaming skills
- Must be able to climb stairs, work above and below ground, and lift loads up to fifty pounds
- Must be able to wear a respirator
- Must be able to be a Radiation Worker
- Plant Operations System Selection (POSS) test
- Fire Brigade physical
- Requisites to obtain unescorted access to the power plant, which include: psychological examination, drug screen, and security background check.
