Position Summary

This is a hands on maintenance Technician position. This position will work directly with other members of the department as well as all other departments on a continuous basis.

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining machinery, utilities, and the facility in a safe and proficient manner. Maintain a high degree of attention and presents to the Packaging, Processing and Utility equipment plant wide.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely perform preventative checks, service and repairs on equipment as needed. 
• Review machine issues with other mechanics, operators, Supervisors, Managers, etc. and communicate solutions/progress/completion
• Ability to work safely and proficiently at times with little to no supervision. 
• Utilize maintenance software to track labor hours, parts used and cost for equipment
• Navigate through machinery operational and maintenance manuals to understand equipment functionality as well as ability to locate replacement parts 
• Perform Preventative, Predictive, and Corrective maintenance successfully and safely with a infuses on effective time management.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with all employees and management 
• Provide daily detailed reporting of equipment/facility issues both verbally and in writing.
• Assemble and build and maintain machine mechanical components proficiently.
• Effectively trouble shoot, pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues and make all necessary repairs.
• Cleans, lubricates and replaces shaft, bearings, gears, valves, seats, seals, and gaskets.
• Identify changes in dimensional requirements of machines/parts by inspecting utilizing tape measure, caliper, etc. and making corrective repairs needed in a timely manner 
• Minimize downtime by communicating issues with production/maintenance to make repairs during proper provided downtime 
• Identify issues by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments for electrical issues.
• Maintain operation of condensers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, motors ect. 
• Maintain a clean work area and safe work environment 
• Perform lock out/tag out  
• Follow company GMP Policy guidelines at all times 
• Operate hand tools, general power tools, testing equipment and other related machinery
• Lubricate machinery as per manufacturing specifications 
• Perform utility rounds and properly document readings/issues 
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required. 
• 5 years Maintenance Technician experience 
• 2 years in Food Manufacturing experience  
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend over, climb stairs and ladders and lift/move up to 50 pounds. 
• Ability to operator power tools safety/efficiently  
• Understanding of Pasteurizers, Homogenizers, and general pump mechanics, (e.g., PD, Centrifugal)  
• Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic controls 
• Basic understanding of electrical components/controls and use of testing equipment, meter, Megger, ect.
• Attention to detail when performing all aspects of job 
• Ability to correctly rebuild process valves, centrifugal, positive displacement pumps, pneumatic diaphragm pumps, and gearboxes.
• Able to troubleshoot mechanical issues and make adjustments/repairs necessary 
• Identify and locate machinery/facility parts for repairs 
• Utilize current maintenance software system, able to use Microsoft Excel, and Word 
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals/drawings/schematics 
• Able to Work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Tolerate required personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, work gloves, safety glasses, ear protection and Arc Flash PPE.
• Must be prompt and able to manage time proficiently.
• Able to work outside in different types of weather including but not limited to wet conditions, rain, heat
