Vital Research is hiring a Data Coordinator to assist with discovering efficient ways to organize, store and manage data with attention to security and confidentiality. They are responsible for the management of complex data files, survey programming, tracking electronic data collection, and collaborating with the Data Manager, Database Developer, and Senior Data Scientist on database design. They also support activities for specific client departments and interact with all levels of research personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Data Manager and Database Developer on data tracking systems.
- Use a variety of software tools to organize, match, and process large data sets from multiple sources, including MS Excel and MS Access.
- Perform basic quantitative data analysis using software like Excel and SPSS.
- Create codebooks for data entry and analysis and audit and correct data errors to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Analyze data across geographies using data mapping tools.
- Manage complex online surveys and offline mobile surveys.
- Write and test survey programs, including all survey logic.
- Test new technology and perform quality assurance testing of databases.
- Document data components in project materials, such as reports and training materials.
- Support colleagues in performing data-related tasks and ensure adherence to company standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address data issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related social science field, a degree in data science preferred.
- Three years of data management experience required.
- Knowledge of research and evaluation methodologies.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a knack for creating pivot tables, utilizing lookup functions and other complex formulas to track and manage data.
- Some experience with computer science/coding and mapping software.
- Microsoft Access skills with the ability to create tables, and design queries and reports, including familiarity with SQL; preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to attend to detail and extract data and document procedures with high fidelity.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Skill in working as part of a team and maintaining cooperative working relationships with internal staff, field staff, and clients.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Solid working knowledge of relevant software, including proficiency in MS Office applications (specifically Word and Excel).
