Overview
We are looking to hire a skilled process engineer to oversee the Windshield process. As a process engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing process strategies, managing process resources, optimizing current processes, and maintaining process documents. You will become an expert with regards to production equipment, understand how to operate, change the settings, and optimize the equipment. Ultimately, your job is to maintain the efficiency of production to reduce costs.
To ensure success as a process engineer you should have extensive experience in process design, excellent technical skills, and high-level analytical skills. A top-class process engineer can analyze a process system and implement simple yet effective changes to boost production.
Responsibilities
- Meeting with production managers to assess existing processes.
- Design and implement basic assigned production process modifications and engineering projects to increase plant safety, quality, efficiency and to reduce variable costs.
- Utilize effective cost controls and sound engineering judgment in the timely planning and implementation of projects and other work assignments to contribute to plant productivity and profitability goals and objectives.
- Work with maintenance and production to provide technological guidance and assistance in developing equipment operational and maintenance procedures to ensure equipment can perform at optimum levels on a consistent basis.
- Implement and emphasize safety, health and environmental control policies and procedures in both personal work activities and in equipment/process design and modifications to contribute to and ensure plant/company safety and health goals are achieved.
- Communicating with front line supervisors, production schedulers and process engineers to optimize day to day operational excellence
- Performing risk assessments
- Designing and testing process upgrades and new process systems
- Performing process simulations and troubleshooting issues
- Performing optimization tests
- Developing routines and best practices to ensure product quality
- Developing standardized operating instructions for the upgrades process.
- Providing the Product Manager with process documents and standard operating procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Proven work experience as a process engineer.
- Experience with process simulations and standard operating procedures
- Interpersonal skill set that allows for positive daily interaction with a diverse group of people.
- Lean six sigma knowledge and experience.
- Advanced technical skills
- Analytical thinker
- Familiarity with state health and safety regulations
- Ability to project manage.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operators, peers, management, and vendors.
- Ability to trouble-shoot, analyze and resolve mechanical problems, plan, organize and share information.
- Knowledge of glass cutting, edging, and bending for the automotive industry would be beneficial.
