SUMMARY:
The Project Manager of Special Projects will be supporting identified strategic projects within our strategic plan’s growth and enhance pillars. The Project Manager for Special Projects will play a pivotal role in driving identified strategic initiatives and ensuring the successful execution of various high-impact projects. This is a temporary position to oversee current strategic projects within VOAMI’s strategic plan for growth and enhancement of existing services. The identified projects can and will shift based on priorities and status of projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Project Management: Oversee and manage multiple special projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to support project objectives and provide actionable insights to move the projects forward.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, coordinate efforts, and ensure seamless communication.
- Problem Solving: Identify potential challenges and develop proactive solutions to address them effectively.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, timelines, and deliverables.
- Communication: Prepare and present project updates to senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Task completion: Ability to step in where needed to move the project forward. This requires the ability to learn specific topics and complete specific tasks.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of best practices for project management.
- Program Development: Developing work flows, developing policy and procedure, look at overall integration with other programs and infrastructure.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Potential supervisory responsibility if additional staffing is deemed necessary for the Project Manager to oversee the development or implementation of identified tasks.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to learn new information and apply it.
- Key Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in project management software and tools. Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools is a plus.
- Resourceful: Leverage available resources efficiently through research, webinars, conferences, and subject matter experts to creatively overcome obstacles and drive project success.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management or related field or equivalent
- A minimum of three years experience with project management, operations support or a similar role.
- Must maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and driving record that satisfies insurability requirements

Environmental Working Requirements:
Work is done in either an on-site or remote office environment with exposure to computer screens. Works
closely with Managers and Directors in several departments.
