What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Staff position at Volusia Flagler Family YMCA?
The Port Orange Family YMCA is looking for energetic and positive individuals to work in our wellness department. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Wellness Staff is responsible for instructing and reinforcing proper strength training procedures and maintaining a safe workout environment for all members, participants, guests and staff.
The core functions of this position are:
- To take personal responsibility for creating, building and enhancing relationships throughout the wellness area.
- To understand and instruct on the proper use of cardio and strength training equipment and free weights.
- Instruct members and guests in strength training principles, procedures and exercise techniques.
- Emphasize all components of wellness (warm-up, cardiovascular, strength, stretch, cool down).
- Promote the Wellness Center through personal example and member interaction.
- Constantly observe the Wellness Center to ensure proper use of the equipment and enforce rules and policies for safety of the members, including proper cleaning of equipment after individual use.
- Assure that the wellness areas are clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age 18
- HS or equivalent
- CPR/AED at time of hire
- First Aid within 90 days of hire
Background and drug testing required.
