Title: Pega Lead System Architect
Location: Charlotte, NC / Hartford, CT / Drescher, PA / Scottsdale, AZ - Hybrid, 2x per week
Duration: 12 Months
Note: Job Hours - EST Timezone (If sitting in Arizona office)
About the position:
25% hands-on development work, 75% leadership responsibilities including feature-level design and code reviews
Leading three teams (CIA, Phoenix, Guardians) with span of control of 5-7 developers across teams, though primary work on CIA team with 4-5 engineers
Primary office location in Charlotte, North Carolina; also open to Hartford, Connecticut, Drescher Pennsylvania, or Scottsdale, Arizona
Two days per week in office required, with some flexibility at non-Charlotte locations; must work Eastern time zone
Supporting excess and surplus (E&S) insurance business using Pega technology, PBI framework, and Pega DX API with Angular front-end integration
Pega version 24 currently in use with cloud migration to Azure planned for 2026
Must have requirements:
Expert-level Pega technology knowledge with ability to use the platform effectively for its intended purpose rather than building complex workarounds
Forward-thinking approach to scalability and design, creating generic solutions that work across multiple use cases rather than just delivering what was asked
Strong leadership and code review capabilities to manage developers with varying experience levels
Ability to work effectively with strong-personality business partners and product owners; experience articulating business problems and translating them into technical solutions
Pega LSA certification desired but not required
Nice to have skills:
Experience with Pega on cloud platforms is ideal given the planned Azure cloud migration happening in 2026.
Familiarity with PBI (Pega's commercial insurance framework) and Pega DX API integration with Angular front-end applications would be valuable.
Pega Infinity version 24 experience or willingness to quickly learn the latest version. Consulting or contract background, as Pega specialists often work as consultants and move between companies.
