What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced Manufacturing Center Technician -Student Employment (Workstudy Eligibility Not Required) position at VTSU?
PURPOSE: This person will provide technician level services associated with the maintenance and operation of the advanced manufacturing equipment necessary to accomplish VT-MC’s and VTSU’s mission. The VT-MC exists to provide advanced manufacturing outreach, education, training and technology development functions for the state of Vermont and surrounding regions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advanced Manufacturing Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Learn to operate a complex set of advanced manufacturing tools that may include metal additive, multi-axis machining, EDM, heat treatment, post-processing, metallurgy, and metrology.
- Help maintain and calibrate the VT-MC tool set.
- Adhere to all safety and operational procedures.
Industry Projects
- Assist in the assessment of industry projects for scope of work, work-flow planning, and cost estimation.
- Design and digitize industry products as needed through CAD, generative design, and/or 3D scanning.
- Perform build and assembly work for VT-MC industry projects.
- Perform testing of industry projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/DYNAMICS
Employee will maintain and run equipment in the VT-MC advanced manufacturing center; working with the professional center staff and student employees.
