What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educational Technology Student Technician- Student Employment (Workstudy Eligibility Preferred) position at VTSU?
This student worker position is responsible for providing Tier 1 audio-visual support services to all end users of the VSC community with a high level of customer service. Educational Technology (EdTech) is a fast-moving environment, and students in this position develop and use a wide range of problem solving and social skills in carrying out the responsibilities outlined below. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Scheduling loaner equipment for use by members of the VSC community
• Setting up and troubleshooting a variety of audio-visual equipment
• Operating a variety of audio-visual equipment for classes and events
• Assisting with the maintenance of technology in learning spaces
• Assisting with other services that EdTech may provide, such as digital editing, laminating, and large format printing
Desired Skills & Experience
Prior experience is not required as VSC EdTech will provide technical and customer service training to students in this position, but students must be eager to learn new skills, and be able to work independently and with others. The following skills and experience are desirable:
• Experience working in a customer service capacity
• Proficiency in communicating with customers over the phone, via email, and in person
• Proficiency and comfort in working with technology, particularly video cameras, data projectors, digital displays, and computers
Hours Worked
Typically, 10-15 hours per week while classes are in session, with additional hours
