Property Broker

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Underwrite/Rate/Submit/Quote new business and renewal business.
• Display the ability to work on highly complex risks (higher values, multiple coverages and layers).
• Successfully solicit and write new business.
• Manage and maintain a book of business including new and renewal business.
• Effectively negotiate terms, coverages, pricing and commission with carriers and/or agents.
• Develop effective investigative skills to review risks.
• Build a connection with our customers to facilitate more submissions. Cultivate key broker relationships in the region to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite.
• Work jointly with other teams within the organization to promote cross selling.
• Coordinate agency visits (in-person/virtual) to build book of business.
• Attend professional, agency and insurance related events.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Job Skills & Competencies:

• Three-five years of experience in insurance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Display the ability to comfortably communicate, visit and discuss opportunities with agents and carrier partners in-person, on the phone and through email.
• Self-starter who independently seeks out opportunities to learn and succeed.
• Build strong relationships with markets and retail producers.
• Collaborate with team members and build positive working relationships.
• Possess a knowledge of markets utilized by Tuscano (brokerage and MGA) and understand each company’s appetite.
• Understand classification of risks and the factors used to determine rates.
• Understand and explain basic insurance principles.
• Ability to prioritize work in an effective manner.
• Excellent customer service skills that align with our customer service expectations.
• Exhibit proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Location & Travel:

The Tuscano Agency is located in Greensburg PA, approximately 35 miles SE of Pittsburgh. Candidates will be expected to come to Tuscano for training and after that on a quarterly basis. Remote/hybrid opportunities are available. This candidate will need to be comfortable traveling to agents, carrier partners and networking events. Some overnight travel may be required.

Required Licenses:

• Hold a current Property & Casualty Producer License.
• Obtain Surplus Lines License within six months
