Ceramic Blade Maker

Summary

The Ceramic Blade Maker is responsible for setting up and operating precision automatic ceramic grinding machines to produce parts according to blueprints, sketches, and work instructions. This role also supports various blade processing operations across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and set up precision automatic ceramic blade grinders independently.

• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and sketches.

• Perform all blade processing operations including:

  • Beveling

  • Honing

  • Grinding

  • Punching

  • Cut-off

  • Packaging

  • Assembly

• Assist in the development of new or undocumented manufacturing processes.

• Conduct basic machine maintenance.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

• Ensure work quality meets specifications and standards.

• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

• Participate in team goals and contribute to department and company success.

• Work overtime as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience with ceramic face grinding machines.

• Experience in other blade-making processes is a plus.

• Familiarity with lifting equipment (cranes, power lifts, etc.).

Knowledge:

• Shop mathematics and general manufacturing practices.

• Ability to understand operation sequences and blueprints.

Skills:

• Accurate use of measuring tools (tape measure, micrometers, Vernier calipers).

• Maintain tight tolerances up to 0.005".

• Strong verbal and written communication.

• Capable of solving practical problems with minimal guidance.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Ability to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently.

Physical & Environmental Demands

• Manual dexterity to handle items with fingers.

• Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 40 lbs unaided.

• Work in industrial shop conditions-exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and temperature changes.

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required for safety.

• Periodic exposure to hazards requiring attentiveness and safety measures.
