Our client is seeking a CPA to take over a book of clients from the founder, ensuring a smooth transition and strong client relationships. This role involves leading a team of bookkeepers, reviewing bookkeeping work with team members or clients, and preparing or reviewing tax returns. You will also provide strategic tax planning and compliance support to help clients achieve their financial goals. Performance ObjectivesClient Transition: Seamlessly take over a book of clients from the founder by establishing rapport and ensuring clear communication about the transition process.
Client Satisfaction: Maintain a high level of client satisfaction by delivering timely, accurate, and professional services.
Team Oversight: Effectively lead and support a team including a staff accountant and bookkeeper, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and feedback to bookkeepers to ensure compliance with company standards and client needs.
Bookkeeping Review: Conduct regular reviews of bookkeeping work, either with bookkeepers or directly with clients, to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals.
Tax Compliance: Prepare or review tax returns with precision, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and deadlines.
Tax Planning: Provide strategic tax planning advice to clients to minimize liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
Other duties as assigned.
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practical application of GAAP
Experience with financial reporting, general ledger management, and account reconciliation
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in client interactions
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Well-organized with effective time management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and accounting software
Familiarity with Canopy, QuickBooks Online, ProConnect, and Google Workspace is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
At least 7 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or a CPA firm
Experience reviewing financials and tax returns, managing a client base, and supervising staff
CPA license is required
Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
Occasional travel (up to 2%) for retreats or training sessions
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
