Job Details
- This is a 36 hour per week position.
- 4 x 9.5 hour days
- Performance of diagnostic ultrasound to include general ultrasound, breast ultrasound and OB ultrasound.
- Assists provider in ultrasound procedures.
- Performs procedures to acquire images according to established protocols, using professional judgement to adapt imaging procedure if required.
- Consults with Radiologists / other healthcare team members as needed to ensure optimal imaging is performed.
- Uses proper patient positioning tools, devices and equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the caregiver.
- Monitors the patient’s condition during the procedure and initiates emergency procedures if needed in response to change in patient condition.
- Reconfirms patient identification, gathers relevant information as to the reason for the procedure, confirms patient prep, contraindications, addresses and documents patient questions and concerns, and provides accurate explanations and instructions.
- Processes, performs image quality control and archives images, ensures that documentation is complete in all systems, and reports diagnostic observations to physicians.
- Acts as a resource for students, new hires, and fellows, providing clinical and / or didactic instruction. Evaluates and documents student performance according to established processes.
- Cleans equipment and determines whether the performance is safe for operation, taking appropriate steps to obtain additional assessment or corrective action as needed. Performs all required equipment testing for quality control program.
- Adheres to all department workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Understands and if assigned, demonstrates ability to safely handle hazardous drugs, which may include receipt, storage, compounding, repackaging, dispensing, transporting, and / or disposing of hazardous drugs.
- The position will require shared call hours.
