What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Theater Academy Assistant position at Walnut Hill School For The Arts?
As an extension of Walnut Hill School for the Arts, the Community Academy at Walnut Hill provides school year and summer session learning opportunities that engage aspiring artists pre-k to adult. The Community Theater Academy develops confident, innovative, and expressive performers in an environment that is fun, creative, and energized.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with teaching theater classes;
- Assisting with behavior management in the classroom;
- Leading games and activities with support;
- Taking stage management notes during rehearsals;
- Assisting with outdoor arrivals and dismissals;
- Project work as needed such as organizing costumes;
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience as a camp counselor, babysitter, classroom/rehearsal assistant preferred;
- Must be reliable, professional, flexible, and open-minded;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Comfort with technology and proficient computer skills;
- Strong leadership skills.
Approximately 15 hours per week (Tu, W, Th) scheduled between 3:15 pm and 8:30 pm, with regular hours starting on September 10, 2024. Additional summer training dates to be determined based on availability.
Performance dates (full days): 12/14, 12/15, 12/20, 12/21
Tech Dates (Approximately 3 PM - 9:30 PM): 12/9, 12/10, 12/11, 12/12, 12/13, 12/16, 12/17, 12/18, 12/19
Spring Classes Resume in the same format, beginning January 3rd.
Performances for Spring 2025 are planned for June 14, 15, 20 & 21.
Physical Demands:
Staff assist in outdoor arrivals and dismissals and are therefore exposed to the elements of weather.
Physical demands include dexterity for department specific tools and equipment, and office machine and supply operation including but not limited to: writing, typing, using electronic devices, computer, phone, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and printers. Ability and dexterity to practice and demonstrate your artistic discipline. Stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly through language and physical demonstration required.
