Cargo Handler

SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring the correct tractors and accessories are loaded in an efficient manner on trailers and rail while meeting compliance requirements. Employees are grouped into levels of this position based upon skills and complexity; employee job duties may be adjusted based upon business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure correct tractors and accessories are loaded safely on the appropriate truck trailers for accurate delivery of customer’s freight

· Read and interpret shipping labels, manifests, bills of lading, and other documents used in the shipping processes

· Assist in driving tractors down from the factory during peak times

· Driving tractors to and from the staging area

· Conducting trailer inspections

· Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned

LEVEL 1: TRACTOR SHAG DRIVER

· Drives tractors from the John Deere factory staging area to the ILS lot

· Parks the tractor in a location

· Drives a tractor from the ILS lot to the factory for repair

· Assists in driving tractors up to the dock to be loaded during busy times

LEVEL 2: TRUCK LOADER/DOCK LOADER

· Loads and pulls up agricultural equipment including tractors, duals, kits

· Loads agricultural equipment on semi-trailers

· Unloads trailers

· Inspects loads to ensure the correct material is being loaded and shipped

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

· High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience

· Maintain safe work habits

· Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions

· Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member

· Ability to perform physically demanding job

· Must have the ability to work weekends

· Punctuality is a must
