- Participate in core content and instructional practices. Professional development related to Math, Language, Reading, Science and Social Studies.
- Extend core academic competencies through professional development opportunities and networking with other instructional coaches in developing, implementing, and researching the instructional-based programs.
- Facilitate the implementation of research-based instruction and professional development at the Instructional Coach’s assigned school site.
- Provide collaborative academic support for classroom teachers.
- Provide sustained mentoring to classroom teachers.
- Plan and conduct professional literacy team meetings.
- Provide workshops on building academic initiatives.
- Collect data, analyze results, and report findings through building data teams and collaboration meetings.
- Coordinate parent education academic improvement activities.
- Research-based knowledge including the following:
- Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
- Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate instructional materials in all content areas.
- Assist development of individual student reading plans.
- Provide leadership for literacy across the school community.
- Communicate the results of the literacy program and spotlight the school as a Literacy Center.
- Attend regular and special meetings as required by the administration.
- Maintain communication and a working relationship with members of the staff, principals, and central office staff to report on progress and plan next steps.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or Director of Special Programs.

Ensuring that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards and assessments. The Instructional Coach will be responsible for accomplishing this purpose by meeting the educational needs of low-achieving children, closing the achievement gap between high- and low-performing children, maintaining high standards for all students, establishing enriched and accelerated instruction, involvement in decentralized decision making, improving accountability, promoting high quality professional development, facilitating the coordination and integration of services, expanding family involvement, extending learning time and providing early intervention.
Qualifications:
Degree: Current Teaching Certificate in a Core Content Area and Master’s Degree. Reading Specialist Certificate Preferable.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with school staff providing on-site professional development including collection of data and analyzing results.
Help improve instruction by engaging teachers in intensive professional development and promote a school-based professional community.
