Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist is an important role at Washington Fruit. This position upholds the Washington Fruit & Produce Co., philosophies through dedication to quality, integrity and hard work. This is an hourly, non-exempt position and reports directly to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator – Team Lead.
Essential Functions
Partnering
- Works with all departments in the Washington Fruit Main office.
- Daily interactions with Ranch HR Manager, Ranch Office Administrators and Assistants, Controller, Assistant Controller, AP, Ranch Managers, Payroll & Benefits Administrator – Team Lead, and CFO
Job Duties
- Duties include review and data entry of new and re-hires, as well as updates to personal info
- Review Timesheets for accuracy
- Process weekly payrolls weekly for multiple ranches, totaling 2000 checks a week
- Calculate payroll taxes
- Review and complete employment verifications and stop work forms
- Research and respond to unemployment notices
- Compile a report of child support payments and submit check requests to AP
- Maintains child support and garnishment spreadsheets for tracking purposes
- Process semi-monthly exempt payroll for 50 ranch employees
- Distribution and management of payroll and labor reports to managers and principals
- Process requests from employees for copies of W-2’s and Earning Histories
- Review I-9’s and W-4’s for accuracy per USCIS/IRS regulations
- Investigate and correct discrepancies with payrolls

- Proficient in MS Office, Outlook and web based IT systems
- Proficient in 10-key
- High school degree or GED required.
- AA in business preferred.
- Experience – one to two years office/clerical experience depending on education.
- Experience working with PickTrace preferred
- Experience working with CompuTech preferred
- Effective time management skills
- Willingness to work overtime, if business needs require
- Ability to be a team player
Work Environment

Salary: $19.00-$24.00
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
