DSHS Rainier School Custodian 1 - Temporary

Rainier School Habilitation Center has an opportunity for you to join an important team that upholds the high standards expected of a large facility that supports residents with intellectual disabilities. We maintain a clean and safe facility by performing a variety of custodial duties and demonstrating a positive, guest-friendly attitude.

At Rainier School, we set our Custodians up for success by providing them training, and well-maintained equipment and tools to perform their duties. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create working relationships with peers, staff, and clients that enable the team to provide services in an efficient way.

Pierce County employees are eligible for a free ORCA card for transportation use. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

Opportunities performed on - site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some Of What You'll Do

  • Sweep, mop, wash walls, dust furniture, and equipment
  • Empty wastebaskets, polish furniture, and fixtures
  • Vacuum rugs, curtains, and furniture
  • Sanitize restrooms, showers, and toilet facilities; keep them supplied with paper towels, soap, toilet tissue, and other items
  • Make rounds locking doors, closing windows, turning off lights and any other equipment left on that needs to be turned off
  • Provide custodial services on occupied living units, client class, work and recreation areas, as well as administrative offices
  • Perform heavy-duty cleaning such as scrubbing, stripping, waxing, or sealing floors using industrial cleaning equipment
