The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is seeking a Therapies Supervisor to join our team at Western State Hospital (psychiatric hospital), in our Center for Forensic Services treatment center.

As Therapies Supervisor, you will be responsible for program development and evaluation, and ensure that a full range of evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation services are available daily to our patients.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Some Of What You’ll Do

  • Provide supervision to subordinate staff and perform tasks as a manager within the Gage Competency Restoration Program
  • Teach, model and set standards for patient-centered, recovery-oriented care
  • Collaborate with discipline supervisors
  • Set standards and oversee use of incentive and other funds
  • Develop and continuously evaluate systems to assess patient needs and therapeutic activities
  • Conduct periodic environmental audits
  • Hire rehabilitation staff and ensures adequate staffing
  • Develop and monitor standards for behavior and attendance
  • Develop and continuously evaluate a system that allows for accurate and timely communication
  • Schedule and facilitates regular meetings

Who We’re Looking For

  • A bachelor's degree involving major study in occupational therapy, physical therapy, hospital recreation, manual arts, vocational counseling, or psychiatric social work And
  • Five years of professional experience in a therapy program, including two years in administration and direction of professional staff
  • A master's degree in the areas of study listed above will substitute for two years of non-administrative experience

Note: Occupational therapy majors must possess registration with the National Registry of Occupational Therapy; physical therapy majors must possess a certificate of registration issued upon the recommendation of the Washington State Examining Committee of Physical Therapists.
