Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is seeking a Part time Automotive Services Laboratory Assistant to assist Automotive Service (ASV) credit courses. Needs may become available each semester. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Observe, coach and assist students in the completion of homework assignments, lab assignments and class projects.
- Setup and breakdown laboratories and assist with laboratory activities as assigned by the department’s instructors.
- Train and track part-time laboratory assistants under the direction of the supervisor so that appropriate schedules and tasks are covered.
- Assist with maintaining a safe laboratory working environment. Familiarity with OSHA and MSDS requirements.
- Assist with inventory procurement and manage the department’s classroom, laboratory and maintenance supplies via scan tool and related software.
- Support instructor’s needs by carrying out tasks and requests as assigned by department’s instructors.
- Assist with the recruiting of students, may include visiting high schools to promote program, etc. with a special emphasis on underrepresented student population areas.
- Assist with all required classroom/lab assignments, presentations, and student handout creation.
- Assist with promotional events and competitions.
- Understand the department’s course curriculum and objectives and relay info to students when needed.
- Maintain lab and classrooms to ensure a safe work environment for students and staff.
- Maintain department inventory levels for all associated lab and classroom assignments.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and at times repair all laboratory equipment in the event of breakdown.
- Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
- Capable of lifting and transporting at least 50 pounds.
- Move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED plus 30 college level credits.
- One-year related work experience.
- ASE Certifications in A6 Electrical/Electronics and A8 Engine Performance.
- Current driver license with clean driving record.
