What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Director position at Watkins United Methodist Church?
The Preschool Director creates a safe, healthy, and welcoming space for children within the programs, policies, and environments of Watkins UMC Preschool. The Director leads the Preschool, Children’s Governing Board, and Church in understanding and implementing the Kentucky Child Care Regulations, ensuring compliance, and assuring each child is protected from abuse and neglect. The work of the Director reflects the love of Christ for all people through the implemented programs, policies, and interactions with the community.
Description of Role through our Vision
· Seek
o Promote and market the program(s) to the community to find new potential students
o Recruit, hire, and train staff members that meet the needs of the program(s)
o Actively promote positive relationships between Watkins congregation and the Preschool
· Connect
o Build relationships within the church that enhance and support the program(s)
o Develop and support families participating within the program(s), balancing individual needs against the requirements of the Preschool Ministry
o Lead staff members in a positive and developmentally growth-oriented manner that achieves the program goals as outlined by the Children’s Governing Board
o Manage support application systems used to administer program(s)
· Nurture
o Develop, implement, and oversee, in partnership with the appropriate staff members, programs and events that achieve the goals as defined by the Children’s Governing Board for each fiscal year.
o Create the Preschool Budget and manage in a fiscally responsible manner that adheres to Children’s Governing Board oversight and approval.
o Implement state licensing compliant policies and procedures that demonstrate a child focused ministry and align to the Children’s Governing Board’s goals.
o Organize the office of the Preschool to effectively allow creativity and flow
Qualifications
· Associate Degree, CDA, Director’s Credential or minimum five years relevant work experience
· Demonstrated Leadership skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently
· Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office
· Strong Knowledge in Kentucky Licensing regulations
· Preferred: 7 years in an Early Childhood Setting
