Waubonsee Community College seeks to hire a committed student advocate to join a hard-working and vibrant team to serve as our Student Conduct and Education Coordinator. In this role, the chosen candidate will have a student first approach in assisting students as they navigate challenges while enrolled as students at Waubonsee.

Responsibilities

Experienced student conduct professional with a knack for programming and event planning.

Well-developed administrative skills including report writing, high-level communication, and a commitment to bringing a fresh perspective to the student conduct process. 

The ability to develop rapport and credibility with students, faculty and staff as well as respect and credibility both within and outside of the institution.

Long on integrity, highly principled, energetic, forward thinking, team oriented problem setter/solver with a great sense of humor and the ability to not take themselves too seriously.

An excellent communicator at all levels and in all formats.

Ability to think, act and function "outside the box" while maintaining a high professional profile and sustaining the integrity of the office.

 

Detailed Qualifications:

Assist with the administration of student conduct and serve as a college hearing officer. This includes, investigating student conduct reports, interviewing, reporting and responding to parties and witnesses, and presenting findings to the Student Conduct Board.

Plan and facilitate required annual training for Student Conduct Board faculty and student hearing officers each semester.

Assist with providing social and academic misconduct materials for faculty, staff, and students and keeping the Student Intervention and Support website resources updated.

Stay apprised of all local, state and federal requirements related to the departments within Student Development (e.g. Financial Aid, Counseling, Student Life, and Athletics).

Plan, implement, and evaluate on-going wellness educational programming related to local, state, and federal requirements (e.g. alcohol awareness, sexual violence awareness, Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act, Constitution Day).

Oversee, update, implement and evaluate the student sexual violence training program(s).

Provide leadership for the development and implementation of a bystander educational program for students, student leaders, athletes, and the college community.

Provide leadership for diversity-related educational programming.

Assist in the resolution of student issues and concerns brought to the Dean for Students area.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean for Students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in College Student Personnel or related field preferred.

Experience in addressing student conduct or related area required. Minimum of one-year in program (event) planning in a college setting preferred. Experience in a community college preferred.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to enhance the success of diverse student populations.
