Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing high quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, high-level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow; working collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills; supporting students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified; willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners; and differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success. Must hold a commitment to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments.

Job Qualifications
CTE Teachers must possess, or be qualified to obtain, appropriate New York State Education Department Certification (RN certification required), and maintain such throughout employment. If not currently certified, successful candidate will be provided assistance in next steps, which include selecting a personalized pathway to obtain certification. NYSED certification includes, at a minimum, approved fingerprints, completion of DASA Training and SAVE Workshop, Child Abuse Identification Workshop, and submission of education and work experience to obtain Transitional certification. For this position, candidates must pursue NYS Teaching Certification in Health Occupations–Nurse’s Assisting 7-12. This title requires the applicant to have in-depth, comprehensive, and appropriate work experience as a Registered Nurse (RN). Experience must include, but in not limited to, working as a nurse in the care of chronically ill or elderly patients in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility. A valid NYS Office of Professions Registered Professional Nurse license and registration is required. New applicants seeking certification to deliver instruction for a Nurse Aide/Nurse’s Assisting Program must apply using the Nurse’s Assisting 7-12 certification pathway only.
Successful candidates will be required to continue to work through the teacher certification process until achieving Professional Level certification.
