Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency consists of staff dedicated to serving others, which include professionalism, empathy, respect, excellent client service, maintaining confidentiality, punctuality with regular attendance.
We provide assistance to low to moderate income families to help address their most critical needs. The agency has over 70 programs, including valuable educational, housing, and emergency services.
Job Description:
Responsible for assisting in the facilitation of human resource functions including: full cycle employee recruitment, onboarding, new hire orientation, and the maintenance necessary to maximize the strategic objectives of Wayne Metro Human Resources, while representing the mission of Wayne Metro.
Qualifications
Interns Essential Functions:

Assist with Recruiting/Job Fairs

Interview potential new hires for employment, using the Wayne Metro Structured Interviewing Guides

Learn how to execute onboarding as a part of the Full Cycle Recruiting Process

Assist with preparation for New Hire Orientation
-
Master best practices for maintaining, processing and filing documentation and records, as well HRIS data entry.

Adheres to strict standards or confidentiality and maintains a high level of integrity for the department and agency.

Monitors and tracks staff requirements including criminal background & drug screenings, education/certifications, etc.

Arrange for pre-placement physicals and TB testing in accordance with program funding requirements.

Register with and utilize the Criminal Justice Information Center of the Michigan State Police. This service (ICHAT) is used for on-line access to criminal conviction records where required by program funding sources and other required screenings.

Participate in special projects.

Assist with audits and monitoring.

Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, and staff, and a willingness to work with others.

Perform work in a professional manner that upholds Wayne Metro’s policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates:
-
Obtaining a degree in Business Administration/Management, Sociology, Organization Leadership, and/or related Human Resources concentrations

Passionate about creating and maintaining a culture of compliance and positive employee engagement to support the employment life cycle within the agency

Ability to develop and maintain effective processes by employing critical thinking to relate tasks as a way to maximize efficiency through to completion
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment with a usually quiet noise level. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently use hands and to talk or hear.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/general education degree (GED) OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.

Ability to work a hybrid schedule or 5 days on-site as needed
