ABOUT WAYSIDE SCHOOLS:

Wayside Schools is an open-enrollment, tuition-free Pre-K3-12th grade public charter school network that provides over 2,200 scholars across its four South Austin campuses with a rigorous International Baccalaureate education. • Able to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.

• Physically able to perform duties assigned at sufficient speed.

• Effective communication skills.

• Functional skills in reading and writing English and Spanish.

• Knowledgeable about meal pattern requirements; understands federal, state, and local program regulations.

• Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation procedures for food service.

• Manages students during meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher or principal according to guidelines established by the individual school site).


• Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.


• Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten assisting students who need assistance.


• Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria by wiping tables, serving lines, water fountain, hand wash station, milk cooler, etc., using appropriate cleaning products; sweeps and mops as needed.


• Assists with class dismissal in an orderly manner at the scheduled time.


• Encourage good table manners.


• Participates in training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested.


• Performs other Child Nutrition Program duties as assigned, including training as back-up cashier. Travel to other school sites will be necessary as needed.


• Other duties as assigned

• Services are generally provided within a cafeteria and office environment.


• Movement throughout the cafeteria is necessary, assisting students with meal items.


• Regular attendance is required for this position.
