Wisconsin Gas, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Engineering Major Projects Supervisor in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location.
Job Summary
The principal responsibilities include engineering and construction management of capital improvements. The Engineering Major Projects Supervisor ensures successful start-up and commissioning of projects, provides record keeping and ongoing system monitoring in support of operations, maintenance and future planning, provides benchmarking information on engineering and construction services and is involved with resource allocation functions.
Job Responsibilities
- Project scoping, permitting, licensing, construction cost estimating, engineering design, construction management, job close-out, writing and enforcing contracts and ensuring on-time and on-budget project completions. The position will also monitor and evaluate in-house engineering and construction and/or external engineering and construction workforces.
- Properly applies a wide variety of codes, standards and regulations and coaches others on proper use. Updates drawings and other engineering documentation and maintains corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.
- Oversees equipment and system design and performance operations to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Coordinates with professional engineering staff to improve equipment and system reliability, efficiency and performance. Conducts research on complex issues to develop innovative approaches.
- Leads large projects in response to evolving industry standards, environmental and regulatory requirements, advanced technology opportunities and/or performance improvement needs. Prepares RFP's, reviews proposals and makes recommendations based on advanced knowledge of requirements. Coordinates preparation, approval and distribution of standards, specifications and contract language. Performs contract administration and construction inspections for complex, multidisciplinary projects. Provides oversight to ensure successful completion of all aspects of large projects.
- Has supervisory responsibility for entry, intermediate and senior level engineers, support staff and union staff (in specific circumstances) including hiring, training, supervising, evaluating and administering discipline.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred
