Major Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the school site Principal or designee, supervises cafeteria, playground, and other areas as assigned, with attention to the health, safety, and conduct of students.

Help organize and supervise noon play activities.

Maintains a firm but respectful and courteous attitude toward students.

Reports all faulty playground equipment to the school office.

Handles and appropriately refers to any accidents involving students.

Encourages children to observe fundamental courtesies, practice good eating habits, leave immediate eating areas neat and clean, and be orderly in going to and from eating areas.

Assists children to observe all school safety rules, participate in wholesome recreational play activities, observe all rules of games, and learn to play with others in a social group.

Exercises no supervision over other employees; no corporal punishment may be administered by Yard Duty Supervisors.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Job Functions

See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office and classroom equipment.

Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students.

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling heavy objects up to 80 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
Work Conditions
Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a cafeteria environment and/or outside on the playground or blacktop areas. May also be assigned to supervise students in a classroom setting.
