Job Description
The Social Work Program at Weber State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of assistant professor, opening fall 2024. This position is a nine-month, full-time, tenure track faculty appointment with primary assignment in the MSW graduate program that has completed its third-year review toward accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Job Duties
The position involves graduate teaching responsibilities across the curriculum within an advanced clinical social work practice framework, along with some instruction in the department’s undergraduate program as needed. Teaching emphasis in this position will include foundations of social work, diversity issues, human behavior in the social environment (HBSE), practice-informed research and research-informed practice, behavioral health, macro practice, and clinical practice theory and methods. Other responsibilities include student advising, committee assignments, professional activities, presentations, publications, and community service.
Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- A PhD in Social Work or a related field (ABD with completion of dissertation by December 2024 will be considered);
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program;
- A minimum of five years post-MSW practice experience (paid);
- Eligibility for clinical social work license (LCSW) in the state of Utah.
Preferred Qualifications
Seeking applicants with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Evidence of potential for teaching excellence in a variety of subject areas in graduate and undergraduate social work curricula (experience teaching in a classroom in a CSWE-accredited social work department preferred);
- A commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching, advising, and student development;
- An interest in creative program development;
- The ability to work in a collegial manner with social work faculty members and faculty from other disciplines across campus.
- Teaching and practice experience with Latinx clients, communities, and/or organizations is highly valued.
