What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payments Specialist position at WECU?

WECU is seeking a Payments Specialist to Complete the processing of a variety of payment tasks including, but not limited to, MDC, A2A, ACH, wires, check image verification and transmission of image cash letters to the Federal Reserve Bank, GL reconciliation and postings, commercial cash management services and other member-related Payment tasks. They are also responsible for helping members successfully use mobile and web-based payment technologies through direct and proactive outreach. Acts as a resource for credit union staff for questions related to mobile and web-based payment technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor, review, audit and help facilitate electronic transactions for members through multiple channel admin sites including, but not limited to: funds transfers, account to account payments, mobile deposit capture, check 21 processing and wires.
  • Perform daily receiving ACH processing. Verify that ACH credit entries have been posted to the member accounts, all exceptions have been addressed, the daily worksheet is in balance, and returns have been completed in compliance with ACH rules and regulations.
  • Perform daily ACH origination loading, auditing, return processing and follow up for the ACH origination program for CUDL and other closed end loans.
  • Perform member/sponsor payroll processing, including exceptions and returns. Process and handle all posted and rejected items in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with applicable service rules and regulations.
  • Perform reconciliation for multiple processes including but not limited to: tMagic, MDC and Wires. Process SWBC files, Architect Message Monitoring, Foreign Checks, Stop Payment and Unauthorized forms and Reg E disputes, and produce monthly reports for Business Experience Team.
  • Participates in research and onboarding new, innovative ideas within the Payments space to keep the credit union on the cutting edge.
  • Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations. Follows policy and procedures related to OFAC by consistently running non-member parties involved in wires through the Bridger system. Follows policy and procedures related to SARs by monitoring and reporting suspicious activity to the Compliance department. Completes mandatory BSA/AML annual training via online web course.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Ability to work accurately with figures and perform detailed work.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and other legal compliance in the operational area of the credit union.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of college-level accounting course(s) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • A minimum of six months’ experience as a teller with a credit union or other financial institution is preferred.
  • A minimum of six months’ computer experience.
  • Ability to operate routine office equipment including printers.
    • Typing at 35 wpm minimum
    • Proficient 10-key skills.
  • Ability to operate computer hardware and detect and resolve operational problems.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to represent the Credit Union in a positive, professional manner in person, on the phone, and in written correspondence.
  • Ability to think creatively and troubleshoot complex issues, including resolving offages.
  • Prior experience working with payroll and direct deposit preferred.
  • Must have ability to interpret and explain credit union policies and transactions posted to members’ accounts.
  • Must adhere to credit union policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Ability to work accurately with figures and perform detailed work.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is from $22.56 to $31.87
