JOB SUMMARY:
Prepare bill of materials and fabrication drawings for production of transformer types of high complexity, as assigned, which may include one or more of the following: pad-mounted, non-pad-mounted and small power; meeting customer specifications. Duties may include assisting in design of new product line(s). Serve as shop liaison and assist plant personnel in resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepare bill of materials and fabrication drawings for each order, specifying parts and accessories needed to produce product.
2. Answer shop floor by questions regarding drawings and make adjustments to match manufacturing capabilities.
3. Issue ECO’s (Engineering Change Order) to correct problems in drawings, as required.
4. Analyze various design requirements and recommend possible solutions or alternate constructions. Collaborate with Marketing to provide product that meets customer specifications.
5. Prepare 3-D Models of special products to reduce the possibility of errors, as applicable.
6. Provide special instructions to drafters when required for unique customer requirements. Correlate designs with manufacturing capabilities and limitations.
7. Provide training for new drafting personnel.
8. Prepare approval and record drawings for customers.
9. Assist in design of expanding product lines and special projects.
10. Supply information for Design Program charges.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform various engineering support functions and projects for engineering and other departments.
2. Perform other relevant duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Required:
- Two (2) years of college/AAS or trade school education in Drafting
- 3-5 years experience in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess workable knowledge of CAD Drafting, machine capabilities, electrical and mechanical clearances and bend allowances of sheet metal.
- Familiar with ANSI and CSA Standards and transformer parts and assembly procedures.
- Able to move from design concept to finished design, including layouts and tolerance evaluations and detail drawings.
- Degree of mental and visual attention: The flow of work and the nature of the duties involve normal mental and visual attention much, or all of the time along with manual coordination.
- Environment: primary exposure to clean, climate controlled office environment with daily/brief (approximately 30 minutes) exposure to plant environment.
- Resides within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington MO.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Salary : $47,412 - $63,654
