Background
Our therapeutic shelter is a safe and supportive residential facility that provides case management and intensive treatment services for adult men age 18 and over. This is a short-term program (10-14 days on average) for those persons contemplating a step towards recovery and who are feeling challenged by residing in the community and maintaining abstinence, or for those who have completed formal treatment and are awaiting placement in the next level of care. Twenty-four-hour treatment services are provided by a professional, culturally sensitive staff.
As a member of the treatment team, the Residential Aide (Shift Monitor) is responsible for the well-being and safety of the clients while assisting with and supervising client activities. As a Residential Aide, you will remain awake on all designated shifts.
Hours:
Full time: 40 hours/week - Second Shift - 4:00 PM-12:00 AM, schedule can be determined upon hire. (any 5 days)
Location: Waterbury, CT
Pay rate: $15.50/hr.
Per diem: weekends, first and second shift

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops positive working relationships with supervisor, co-workers and members of the clinical team.
- • Develops appropriate therapeutic relationships with clients
• Abides by the Code of Ethics.
• Facilitates assigned educational groups and community meetings.
• Supervises visiting hours.
• Models appropriate professional behavior
• Collects/administers urinalysis and breathalyzer tests.
• Supervises meal and snack times.
• Supervises self-administration of medication.
• Routine bed checks, house rounds and documentation of client counts.
• Makes clear and detailed entries in staff log and appropriate files.
• Attend staff meetings.
Requirements/Experience:
High School Diploma, prefer minimum 2 years college in counseling or related field. (Work experience in the field can be considered a substitution) - Knowledge of the recovery process is helpful and preferred.
- Experience in a similar setting is desirable.
- Bilingual preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to climb 3-4 flights of stairs.
- Good computer skills.
- Must be reliable!
