We have clinicians certified in EMDR, Grief therapy, PREPARE/ENRICH, the Enneagram, Life Coaching, and Perinatal Mental Health. We have a strong reputation in the community and have a heart to give back and expand our reach.

Our practice culture and model reflect a strong emphasis on work-life balance, individual and group supervision, ongoing training and educational opportunities, team connection and support, as well as timely access to compassionate mental health, coaching, services. When providing in-office care, our practice offers a beautiful, newly renovated office space in Bel Air with free parking and full ADA access. We also offer entirely virtual care through non-local providers. In addition to administrative support, we provide an EHR system, office equipment, phone service with voicemail, email and fax service, marketing, professional website and headshots, social media presence, and clinical and administrative supervision (individual and group). We want our clinicians to primarily focus on their clinical work and have the autonomy to structure their work in a meaningful way to meet their own needs.

Position Description

A compassionate, experienced, and trauma-informed therapist to join our team, specializing in working with individuals affected by narcissistic abuse and chronic shame and/ or who are the adult children of emotionally immature parents. This role is ideal for a licensed mental health professional with expertise in trauma-informed care, particularly in treating complex relational dynamics and the emotional aftermath of abuse and dysfunction. The therapist will provide individual therapy, support clients in their healing journeys, and work collaboratively in a dynamic therapeutic environment.

Significant Areas of Responsibility

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic support to clients dealing with the effects of narcissistic abuse, adult children of emotionally immature parents, and chronic shame, maintaining a caseload of 18-26 clients per week..
  • Utilize evidence-based and systemic therapeutic approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and trauma-informed modalities tailored to these unique challenges (e.g., somatic healing).
  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments to evaluate clients' mental health, trauma history, and current struggles.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that address the root causes and effects of narcissistic abuse, emotional immaturity in family dynamics, and chronic shame.
  • Apply trauma-informed, empathetic, and client-centered approaches in all therapeutic interventions.
  • Understand the impact of narcissistic abuse and emotionally immature parenting on clients’ self-esteem, relationships, and emotional well-being, and support clients in building healthier relational patterns.
  • Help clients develop coping strategies to manage the emotional and psychological challenges of living with the effects of narcissistic abuse and emotional immaturity.
  • Guide clients in understanding and healing chronic shame, improving their sense of self-worth, and fostering emotional resilience.
  • Provide psychoeducation on narcissistic abuse, emotional immaturity, shame, and relational trauma, helping clients understand their experiences, normalize their feelings, and validate their emotional responses.
  • Empower clients with tools for building self-compassion and navigating difficult relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including treatment notes, progress reports, and other necessary records, in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
  • Ensure confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Alongside our Crisis Management Team, offer crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring immediate support for clients experiencing acute distress related to narcissistic abuse or emotional overwhelm.
  • Develop and implement safety plans as needed.
  • Maintain good standing with the appropriate licensing board. Complete all recommended continuing education requirements for active licensure.

Collaborations and Referrals

  • Collaborate with other professionals, including psychiatrists, clinical supervisors, and case managers, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to client care.
  • Refer clients to additional services (e.g., support groups, legal assistance, or psychiatric care) as appropriate.

Community and Practice Engagement

  • Contribute to the practice blog through individual and novel writing and/or video content.
  • Attend and participate in community and networking events.
  • Attend and participate in practice-led team-building activities and events.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
  • Licensure as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent in the state of practice.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience working with clients affected by narcissistic abuse, emotional immaturity in parents, and chronic shame, OR 3 years clinical experience with adult individuals and a desire to develop this specialized niche.
  • Experience in trauma therapy, especially working with complex relational trauma and abuse dynamics

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapies, attachment-based work, and psychodynamic therapy.
  • Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds and trauma histories, including high emotional sensitivity and relational challenges.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills, including an understanding of attachment theory and its impact on adult relationships.
  • Empathy, patience, and strong listening skills, with a deep understanding of the trauma caused by narcissistic abuse and emotionally immature parenting.
  • Comfort with crisis intervention and ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or training in trauma-informed modalities such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, or Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Certification or training in Narcisisstic Abuse Recovery or Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents.
  • Experience with telehealth services or remote therapy platforms.
  • Familiarity with mindfulness, self-compassion practices, and holistic approaches to healing.
