Schedule:
- Work Hours: Monday–Friday, aligned with school hours
- Location: On-campus at assigned school site(s). This role supports multiple schools within the district.
About the Role:
We’re seeking a Student Support Counselor to provide crisis-focused mental health services in school settings. You’ll support students referred by school staff during moments of acute need by delivering crisis intervention,risk assessments, and safety planning. This role is ideal for a compassionate mental health professional dedicated to making a meaningful impact on youth and school communities. While this role includes developing therapeutic relationships through individual and group work, a primary function of this position is crisis response.
What You'll Do:
✔ Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and case management
✔ Deliver individual and group counseling to students
✔ Develop and implement short-term intervention plans
✔ Work closely with school staff and external mental health agencies
✔ Offer training for students, parents, and educators
✔ Maintain thorough documentation of services provided
✔ Ensure ethical, evidence-based mental health practices
What We’re Looking For:
✔ Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
✔ Registration in good standing with the California BBS (AMFT, ACSW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC)
✔ Experience supporting foster youth, system-involved youth, affiliated youth or students impacted by complex trauma (preferred)
✔ 2 years of experience working with youth experiencing trauma (preferred)
✔ Experience in school-based crisis management (preferred)
✔ Knowledge of evidence-based interventions (CBT, ACT, DBT)
✔ Interest in or experience with crisis response worK
