Description
Hiring for an interim/part time
Drivers are to maintain vehicles in good condition and inspect them regularly. Drivers are also responsible for the transporting of residents and staff to and from scheduled appointments and outings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have clean DMV and Class B licenses with passenger endorsement. If the bus has air brakes, the driver must have proper endorsement as well. Must maintain safe driving record. The driver must be able to communicate well with residents in assisted, independent and journey care, families, and staff in a caring demeanor and handle each situation with sensitivity and compassion for the elderly.
Must be flexible, punctual, dependable and have ability to comply with a sometimes-heavy transportation schedule.
Must be enrolled in DOT random substance and alcohol testing.
DUTIES:
· Stay in compliance with driving schedule.
· Responsible for maintaining driver's license status, medical clearance, and endorsements.
· Must keep track of appointment and scheduled activity times through LifeLoop platform.
· Keep vehicles clean and maintained daily and a full vehicle cleaning once a week.
· Responsible for the fueling of vehicles, vehicle washes and bus compliance.
· Ensure vehicles have no personal accessories visible and permanently kept in vehicles.
· Report any trouble or misunderstandings with staff, residents, and residents’ family members to supervisor. Must report to a department head when supervisor is not in community.
· Log and maintain daily inspections checklists, mileage logs, 45-day inspections, maintenance reports. Any concerns or observations noticed with vehicles must be reported to supervisor.
· Must have effective communication with receptionist and supervisor.
· Must assist all residents in an out of vehicle. Must escort to doctor’s office or any other facility when required, providing door to door service.
· Responsible for the cleaning of fitness equipment within community.
· Spending 30 minutes a month in Journey Care to interact with residents and build connection.
· When driver has no transportation, they must report to supervisor for other duties.
· Physically able to perform assigned job tasks and lift 20-30 pounds when needed.
· Assist in activities directed by Programs Director as needed.
· Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
· Adheres to guidelines in Employee Handbook including dress code, conduct, scheduling etc.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience: CALIFORNIA – · Must have a minimum of six months' experience driving large buses. · A minimum of six months' experience interacting and transporting senior citizens is preferred. · Class B license valid in California with passenger endorsement and any other applicable endorsements if needed. These requirements may be waived if an exception to this requirement is made by the licensing agency upon the community’s written presentation of a satisfactory alternative plan.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations for transactions related to purchasing and producing reports and/or receipts.
Reasoning Skills: Understand complex issues and ability to carry out plan of action on own initiative.
Oral/Written
Communication Skills Demonstrates sound communications skills, both verbally and written when dealing with residents, staff, families, visitors, and vendors. Must be able to speak, read and write English.
Equipment Used: Be proficient in basic office equipment and technology to accomplish and maintain high job performance.
Physical Effort: Good physical health verified by a health screening, including a chest x-ray or an intradermal test result not more than 6 months prior or seven (7) days after employment. Be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job. Assist in loading and unloading residents into community vehicles. Required to physically assist residents during activities when needed including pushing or moving.
Personal Characteristics: Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families.
Working Conditions: Well-lit, safe office and vehicles with appropriate ventilation and temperature levels. Will be working in all resident care areas of the community. Will accompany residents on outings outside of the property and assist in pushing.
Other: (As required by Title 22) Employee must pass a criminal record clearance prior to beginning work in the community. Employee must possess current first aid training. Employee must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Salary : $20 - $22
