Estimator Role (FULLY REMOTE) :

• As an Estimator, create utility project estimates.
• As an Estimator, work as an extension of our client's team and provide best-in-class service.
• As an Estimator, you will be involved with consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.
• As an Estimator, provide assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.

Responsibilities :

• Create and review thorough scope / design documentation for potential projects including but not limited to a scope document, KMZ files (Google Earth), Transmission Asset Mapping Interface files and FileNet (engineering drawing database).
• Create and review substation and transmission line estimates at a project level.
• Review supplemental support estimates (Support estimates include Access Roads, Forestry, SCADA / IT Network, Testing and Commissioning, Real Estate, Project Management, Environmental and Revenue Metering.)
• Coordinate with other members of the scoping and estimating team, accounting, engineering, sponsors, regional contacts and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff.
• Interpret and review actuals in comparison to estimates.
• Assist in the feedback loop from project execution to ensure accuracy is improving.
• Attend regional meetings with sponsors, protection, maintenance, and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates.
• Review / approve / reject estimate requests in OPPM.
• Build project schedule timelines for substation, transmission line and support estimates with correct logic.

Expectations :

• Solid understanding of engineering design / drawing packages.
• Solid understanding of substation construction tasks involved with Project Execution.
• Solid financial acumen.
• Adherence to FERC Standards and the Client Code of Conduct.
• Any need for meetings should be determined by the appropriate Manager and Executive Vice President.
• Share knowledge and mentor new team members.
• Establish trust and healthy rapport with client.
• Efficiency and direct / effective communication are required with all members of the team and upper management.
• Be able to prioritize workload and communicate if help is needed.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment under tight timelines.
• Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.
• Timesheet entries and expenses to be appropriately applied to corresponding projects and should be submitted weekly.

Preferred Software Experience :

• Sage Estimating software
• Navigator
• Microsoft Office with strong excel skills
• OPPM
• Google Earth

Preferred Technical Experience :

• Experience with substation design, construction, and / or testing.
• Experience with Transmission line design, construction, and / or testing.
• Ability to mine and analyze data.
