What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Trailer Technician position at Werner Enterprises?
The Lead Trailer Tech is responsible for diagnosing and repairing malfunctions/damage to trailers. The position is also responsible for supervising Trailer Mechanics while ensuring productivity and quality assurance on all repairs done within the trailer shop. Due to the nature of the essential job functions of this role, this is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Job Functions
The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listed position.
- Diagnose and perform repairs on trailer units.
- Supervise trailer mechanic staff and disseminate work orders for completion.
- Open and close work orders in AS 400.
- Bill out parts in AS 400 for accounting purposes.
- Fill out production paperwork on a daily basis.
- Check loaded TCU's for proper functioning.
- Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.

- Ability to read and write.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment.
- Proficient in computer operations.
- Must be able to lift in excess of 75 lbs.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of AS 400 experience preferred.
- Experience communicating with Drivers as well as Corporate Management Staff.
- 3 to 5 years of trailer experience required.
