Job Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies & services at the most favorable terms for the Company. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. Resolves issues related to inventory return, replacement, and credit arrangements.
Essential Functions:
- Procure MRO material based on analysis of best overall value
- Procure raw material (wire, cable, bar stock, Resin, Kanban items) based on analysis of best overall value
- Data management for these products (Vendor, item, Vendor contracts, etc)
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels based on goals established by the Supply Chain Director
- Process non-conforming materials & RMA requests
- Maintains services & office equipment
- Manage suppliers to on-time delivery of existing supply
- Packing slip review prior to Finance department receiving
- QDR Review and processing
- Manages shortages with Master Planner to ensure support of customer orders
- Quotes for cost savings for sustaining, ongoing like parts and tool crib items
- MSDS maintenance, keep Doc Trak updated with English and Spanish versions
- Assist with other purchasing activities when needed
- Consistent attendance on days/hours scheduled to work
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Negation skills
- Inventory level management knowledge
- Prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, outlook, etc.)
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize work
Required Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Minimum of two years in a Buyer role
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing facility
- Previous ERP System Experience
Physical Deamnds/ Equipment used to perform the job:
- Office job which has prolonged periods of sitting
- Ability to use computer keyboard and view computer monitors
- Heavy telephone and internet work to order supplies and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Occasional walking distances to review inventory in various warehouses
