Wespath, recognized as a 2017-2023 Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and a 2018-2023 National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, has an opportunity for a Web Manager that plays a critical role in defining and implementing Wespath’s public website strategy and is responsible for proactively managing and maintaining Wespath’s two non-transactional public websites, wespath.org (benefits-related website) and wespath.com (institutional investor website). In this work, the Web Manager collaborates with multiple stakeholders, including internal departments, the Communications and Creative teams, and back-end website development teams (both internally in IT and externally with web-hosting provider and others). This position is essential in ensuring our web presence effectively supports our brand and organizational goals, enhances user engagement and experience, and improves search engine optimization capabilities.

More specifically, as the Web Manager you will have the following key responsibilities:

Web Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Define and implement a comprehensive strategy for Wespath’s public websites aligned with the organization’s brand and business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the websites support and enhance various initiatives, including marketing/communication campaigns, product/services launches and community outreach.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the organization’s web presence remains current and competitive, collaborating with the IT team and others as appropriate.

Web Analytics and User Experience

  • Develop and maintain meaningful web analytics to track and improve user behavior, engagement and overall website performance. Frequently communicate key analytic takeaways with the Communications team.
  • Analyze web data to provide actionable insights that inform decisions on content, design and improvements to website functionality.
  • Continuously optimize the website, and in collaboration with the UX team, enhance the user experience, ensuring ease of navigation, accessibility and responsiveness across devices.

Search Engine Optimization

  • Implement and manage effective SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings and drive more traffic to the website.
  • Conduct keyword research, on-page optimization and link-building activities to maximize website effectiveness.
  • Monitor and report on SEO performance, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.

Content Management and Development

  • Develop a high-level content strategy for Wespath’s public websites, in collaboration with content managers, business partners and UX, that provides relevant, up-to-date content aligned with the organization’s brand and business goals.
  • Work collaboratively with content managers and business partners to develop high-quality, engaging content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Align the content strategy for the public websites with Wespath’s transactional sites and social media strategy to ensure continuity of brand and experience.
  • Ensure all web content adheres to SEO best practices and supports the overall web strategy.

Website Maintenance and Management

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the websites, including updates, troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate with IT and external vendors, including webhosting and CMS vendors as needed, for technical support and enhancements.
  • Partner with IT to ensure website security and data protection measures are in place and current.

  • The compensation range for this position is $97,000 - $108,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be set based on the hired applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in web development, digital marketing, computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in web strategy development, analytics, SEO and user experience optimization.
  • Proficiency in web analytics tools (e.g.; Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) and SEO tools.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and CMS platforms including demonstrated hands-on experience managing websites using static and dynamic content on various CMS platforms.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability collaborate with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles.
