West End House has been deeply rooted in the Allston-Brighton community since 1971 after urban renewal destroyed its original home in the West End neighborhood, where it was founded in 1906. Our programs continue to evolve with new, expanded efforts ensuring equitable food access for all, mental wellness and trauma-informed programming, and a career pathways initiative, complementing our long-time high-impact programs in academic success, college pathways, visual and performing arts, leadership and career development, and sports, fitness, and nutrition. West End House is one of the most diverse youth agencies in Boston whose members come from 23 of the 30 Boston zip codes. Our staff is representative of the young people we serve. As the organization has experienced significant growth over the past few years, we are seeking an individual to join a team of four fundraising professionals committed to advancing the work of West End House. We have a $5 million annual operating budget, of which 95% is raised through private fundraising. This role will be integral to the success of the team in promoting West End House and communicating its impact to its hundreds of supporters, external constituents, and partners.

The Director of Institutional Giving will develop and execute on West End House’s grant strategy, including crafting compelling proposals and preparing reports in accordance with existing grant requirements, building relationships with institutional funders, and identifying new grant opportunities. This position will be pivotal in efficiently collaborating with program staff to accurately capture and represent various programs in proposals, reports, and updates. You will be the primary staff member responsible for corporate, foundation, and government grants, and report directly to the Chief Development Officer.

Responsibilities

Grant Writing and Management

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative program data to craft authentic and compelling grant proposals that align with the West End House’s values
  • Work with the Program Impact team to stay informed and gather data about programs, initiatives, and impact.
  • Steward the end to end grant application cycle including the creation of grant letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations
  • Complete all grant reports as required
  • Track existing grant and proposal schedules by utilizing the fundraising database, ensuring timely creation and submission of necessary deliverables
  • Execute outreach initiatives to identify and solicit new grant prospects

Institutional Donor Engagement

  • Steward relationships with corporate funders and support initiatives aimed at cultivating new institutional donor relationships
  • Promote corporate and institutional donor engagement by providing updates about program successes, giving opportunities, and upcoming events
  • Collaborate with the broader development team to implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy

  • 3 years of prior experience in a grants management or a comparable role that included a large focus on written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrable capacity to synthesize member data and program specific information from staff into compelling narratives that
  • Detail oriented with the ability to diligently keep records of and track compliance with a multitude of grant requirements
  • Robust communication skills with the ability to actively initiate and maintain relationships with diverse institutional donors
  • Proven track record of working effectively within deadlines

Salary : $5 - $80,000
