SUMMARY: As a member of Hulbert Aquatic Center, the lifeguard is responsible for providing patrons with a safe, clean and enjoyable setting while responding to their needs as they relate to use of the aquatic program areas.

SUMMARY: As a member of Hulbert Aquatic Center, the lifeguard is responsible for providing patrons with a safe, clean and enjoyable setting while responding to their needs as they relate to use of the aquatic program areas.
Essential Duties
- Provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and enjoyable environment
- Follow the procedures of the certifying agency, the Minn-Kota Chapter of the American Red Cross
- Knowledgeable of lifeguard regulations established by the American Red Cross and Hulbert Aquatic Center
- Knowledgeable of all pool equipment and ensure that they are working properly and report any problems to the Aquatics Director
- Attend all meetings and training sessions
- Communicate with the public with a positive and professional attitude
- Record chemical readings, water temperature, pool inspections, accident/incident reports and participant statistics, etc
- Arrive on the pool deck ready to work, on time, dressed in uniform and have possession of all necessary equipment
- Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies
- Keep full attention on the pool and its occupants at all times when on duty
- Assist with event set up, breakdown and other cleaning duties as needed
- Ability to adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance
- Current lifeguard certification required or motivated to obtain lifeguard certification
- Reliable and dependable attendance
- Knowledge of pool equipment
- Ability to read and record chemical and temperature readings and statistics
- Prior experience as a lifeguard preferred, but not required
