JOB SUMMARY
The Outpatient Imaging Support Coordinator is an unlicensed multi-skilled worker who supports clerical and patient care by performing specific tasks that provide support as determined by the department director and/or technologist. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating clerical, scheduling, pre-registration and billing support. The coordination of activities occurs intradepartmental, with physician offices, as well as the patients they serve. The individual must also demonstrate growth/development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduate required.
Surgical Technologist, CNA or Medical Assistant preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year experience in related healthcare field preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS (AHA)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Capable of working in a team environment.
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service to patients, providers, staff and vendors.
- Effectively communicates with physicians’ offices /patients to schedule procedures.
- Maintains good working relationships.
- Address exam scheduling and/or rescheduling of patients.
- Address patient registration and check-in.
- Works to ensure the proper coordination of demographic and insurance information.
- Addresses insurance authorizations as needed/required.
- Provides support and assistance to technologists, clinicians and nursing staff, maintaining workflow efficiency and minimizing patient inconvenience, while ensuring timely processing of patients and quick turnover of patient procedures.
- Performs reminder calls to patients regarding their appointments or to perform screening questions in preparation for the procedures. Will provide patients prep instructions as needed.
- Assists with monitoring stock supplies as needed.
- Performs patient intake; collects, screens and records patient-specific information into the imaging related setting (verification of exam, medical history, medication usage, labs values, etc.).
- Executes proper maintenance of protected health information according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Conducts research on surgical implants and foreign bodies, providing the MRI technologists and radiologists with safety guidelines for the devices.
- Participates in annual education to promote a higher level of expertise and in compliance with hospital annual education requirements. Knowledge of, adheres to, and keeps abreast of federal regulations and industry standards as mandated by the State of California, Joint Commission, OSHA, ACR.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Maintains files/ records for department – which may include reporting statistics.
- Maintain a current BLS status.
