Grain Merchandiser
West Plains LLC is a part of BioUrja Group, and we are an agricultural commodity trading business specializing in warehouse operation, risk management, and transportation with a focus on creating value for the company’s producers and consumers. Our customers depend on us to provide market insight, risk management, and logistics support. We are federally licensed and bonded warehousemen that trade whole grains, feed ingredients, freight, and other commodities within North America.
We are headquartered in Omaha Nebraska and have nine locations spread across three states. The company controls nearly 20 million bushels of elevator space through ownership or lease agreements.
We are currently looking for a Grain Merchandiser based out of our Omaha Nebraska location.
Job Responsibilities
- Applicants must have terminal grain experience and shuttle loading knowledge.
- Assist the Commercial Manager in developing regional trading game plans, for grain, feed ingredients and freight.
- Help to manage commodity positions for Freight on Board (FOB) truck trading and freight for rail/truck.
- Aide in the coordination and teamwork throughout the company to originate grain and oilseeds.
- Work with the Commercial Manager to manage general positions, contract exposure, credit, freight and logistics.
- Involved with month-end P&L estimates and reconciliation.
- Develop relationships with targeted end user commercial accounts
- Develop producer origination and relationships for the elevator.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 to 5 years merchandising experience.
- Understand grain futures & basis relationships
- Understanding of logistics management
- Understanding of grain flows and potential opportunities
- Proven communication skills (written, oral, listening)
Job Preferences
- 5 plus years preferred.
- Corn, wheat, and feed products experience preferred.
